This supporter sees AI as one tool to help control the soaring costs of movie and television production, which can swell to $300m for a major film release like “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” or “The Little Mermaid.” Such budgets require equally huge box office returns simply to break even. One of the sources, an internal advocate who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said legacy media companies like Disney must either figure out AI or risk obsolescence. ![]() There's something about being in a group that makes you suck it up and persevere. I didn't think I was a person who enjoyed the social aspect of the classes, but maybe I did. Basically 30/60 minutes of burpees/push-ups/jumping. I've tried some of the other ones that were never available at my gym - like Grit - and who does these?! They are SO hard. I find a lot of the videos are structured differently than live classes. I tried a Bodypump a few weeks ago and it absolutely wrecked me. I'm not sure if it's because I took a break and lost some fitness, but I'm not enjoying Les Mills anymore. Now with the corona situation I'm at home 100% of the time and want to get back into fitness because being completely sedentary is just not acceptable to me for physical reasons but also mental health. I subscribed to Les Mills on demand which seemed like a pretty good compromise - this was all I was doing at the gym anyway.ĭespite this, I went through a lazy period recently. I ended up cancelling my membership a few months before this whole corona situation because I was having difficulty getting to the gym for transportation and scheduling reasons. Well that's the same feeling Lightfall has left me with instead of a crescendo before the conclusion, the orchestra has stumbled and missed a few beats throwing everything out of whack.īut while Lightfall's narrative has its demons, Neomuna is a brilliant location. It just all seems like Bungie had an idea for where Destiny's Light and Darkness Saga ends, and to get there, we need to wade through one last chunk of filler ahead of the action-packed finale. His entire premise is just to shout at you and belittle you, while he makes no contribution or attempt to explain the plot or what's happening, which feels really offbrand for the character that Bungie has spent years and years forming. And let's not forget veteran character Osiris, who Bungie has turned into one of the most irritating and frustrating characters in the entire game in this expansion. Nimbus feels cliche and corny, and Rohan (spoiler alert) doesn't stick around long enough for you to connect with him or even feel marginally fazed about him meeting his end. Aside from Tormentors - which are thrilling to face and very threatening at that - the Shadow Legion Cabal feel like every other Cabal we've faced over the last nine years of Destiny, even if they do pack Strand shields and Darkness pylons to protect them, two mechanics that have minor impacts on the gameplay, at best.Īt least the new characters are interesting right? Well. ![]() On the other hand, the enemies you face are not much different to what we've seen over the years. I will say however that the Warlock's Broodweaver fails to bring the same level of thrill and severely lacks in damage, and the Titan's Berserker feels like every other Titan Super in Destiny 2, even if its damage is astronomically high at the current moment in time. The mobility, lethality, fluidity, and customisation all make for a set of abilities that I can see becoming more of a fan favourite than Beyond Light's Stasis, and even some of the original Light subclasses. Well, the explanation leading to how Guardians come into contact with the ability is riddled with plot holes, but fortunately the actual kit itself is pretty awesome, particularly the Hunter's Threadrunner. It's fun gameplay, but coming from The Witch Queen, narratively this is a massive step back. What is The Veil and why are we rushing to the Neptunian city of Neomuna to protect it? Who really are the Cloud Striders? What is the Witness and what does it want? And, most importantly, is the same question we've all been asking for nearly a decade: what is the Traveler? None of these major questions are answered, instead we're just pointed in the direction of bad guys and told to pull the trigger like some sort of superpowered contract killer. But the actual story itself feels inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, and it has a serious problem with explaining itself - something that must be an absolute nightmare for new players to the game. It feels more like a seasonal narrative arc that has been bolstered with more of a production budget, meaning we get tons of sparkly cutscenes that do make your jaw drop. ![]() What I mean by this is that Lightfall's story doesn't feel as big and impactful as I hoped it would. ![]() At this time, it seems likely that Reeves would make more money through NIL opportunities at UK next season than wherever he’d play pro ball, and that ultimately will be a major factor in his decision. When UK’s 2022-23 campaign ended last month, it seemed a long shot that he would be back in Lexington for another year, but the chances of a return have increased since then. Oscar Tshiebwe: UK’s leading scorer - and the nation’s leading rebounder - over the past two seasons has announced that he will enter the NBA Draft while leaving open his option to return to college for one more season. No sooner was Rome’s Via Cassia completed around 100 B.C.E. ![]() Roads distort the planet in other, more insidious ways. It has never been more dangerous to set paw, hoof or scaly belly on the highway. A half-century ago, just 3 percent of land-dwelling mammals met their end on a road by 2017 the toll had quadrupled. (More birds die on American roads every week than were slain by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, with the road deaths accompanied by a fraction of the hand-wringing.) And it’s only getting worse as traffic swells. Sometime during the 20th century, scientists have written, roadkill surpassed hunting as “the leading direct human cause of vertebrate mortality on land.” Name your environmental ill-dams, poaching, megafires-and consider that roads kill more creatures with less fanfare than any of them. To us, roads signify connection and escape to other life-forms, they spell death and division. They epitomize freedom-the “architecture of our restlessness,” per Rebecca Solnit, the “two lanes take us anywhere,” per Bruce Springsteen. Roads are both logistical essentials and cultural artifacts. “Everything in life is somewhere else,” wrote E.B. Today it’s impossible to imagine life without the asphalt arteries that connect goods with markets, employees with jobs, families with each other. ![]() Roads predate the wheel: Mesopotamian builders began laying mud-brick paths in 4000 B.C.E., centuries before anyone thought to drop a chariot onto a couple of potter’s disks. Our planet is burdened by perhaps 3,000 tons of infrastructure for every human, nearly a third of an Eiffel Tower per person. Some 40 million miles of roadways encircle the Earth, from the continent-spanning Pan-American Highway to the hundred thousand miles of illegal logging routes that filigree the Amazon. When alien archaeologists exhume the rubble of human civilization, they may conclude that our raison d’être was building roads. |
